Mary Alice Wagner's Obituary
Mary Alice Wagner (nee Burns), passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at St. Mary of the Woods, Avon, after a short illness.
She was born on January 6, 1929 to James Dewey and Rosalind (nee Halm) Burns, in Lorain, where she lived for most of her life. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, where she held the position of class secretary and was also member of the Sai-Mar Club. Mary Alice married Jim Wagner in 1951 and worked beside him at his auctions for many years. Together, they ran the Wagner Farm and proudly raised their family. She was a member of SCOA, AARP, NARV, RSVP, and the Farm Bureau.
Her hobbies included; needlework, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, camping, and in her younger years she enjoyed square dancing. She especially loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, plays, and any other activities in which they were involved.
Mary Alice is survived by her 6 children. Daughters; Martha Wagner Mihalko, of Lorain, Beth Wagner, of Lorain, and Jane (Thomas) Lesiecki, of Dover. Sons; Jim (Shannon) Wagner, of Las Vegas, Ed (Bonnie) Wagner, of Lorain, and Rich (Jill) Wagner, of Amherst. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister, Joan Pienoski, and brother, John Burns.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James R. Wagner, grandchildren; Sara Beth Huffman and Patrick Wagner, parents; James Dewey and Rosalind Burns, a sister, Celine Rumpler, and brothers; Jim, Charles, and Dave Burns.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 9, from 1-3 pm and 5 to 8 pm, at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, Amherst, OH 44001, where prayers will be held on Monday, at 9:30 am. Her funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Timothy J. O’Connor, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
