Mary Campana's Obituary
Mary Campana (Cambria), 94, of Lorain, passed peacefully Wednesday May 5, 2021 surrounded by her daughters and son in law Paul. She was born July 17th, 1925 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Frank and Josephine Cambria. She was raised on Seneca and Pearl in South Lorain.
On August 24th 1946 she married her loving husband Baldo and raised five children, Tom, Jim, Joe, Carol and Cindy. In 2014 they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Baldo and Mary started Baldo Campana Concrete in 1956. She assisted her husband building the business. Mary was the office manager and bookkeeper until their retirement in 1990.
Mary, at gatherings with her family would always have her instamatic camera within reach taking thousands of pictures of her children, grandchildren, holidays, her husband’s vegetable garden. She saved every card ever given to her by her loving family along with the countless pictures displayed in over 75 albums.
Mary enjoyed feisty canasta games with her children, bingo, craft shows, babysitting grandchildren, coin collector, craft shows, huge holiday gatherings with all the trimmings. It was such a magical time for all in attendance. Mary loved when her family visited especially Friday night with her granddaughter Gina and family.
Above all and most importantly Mary loved the time she spent with her children and family
Mary was the most kind, sweet, thoughtful and loving person.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (Mary Ann), Joe (Jaye); daughters Carol and Cindy Elkins (Paul), daughter in laws Elaine (Tom) and Debbie (Tom). Grandchildren Toni Shannahan, Bob Campana, Gina Campana, Nikki Campana, , Joe Campana, Baldo (BJ) Campana, Jay J Miller and Tom Campana; 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband Baldo in 2015; her son Tom in 2014; her grandson Ricky Miller in 2017, parents Frank & Josephine Cambria; sisters Minnie Bennett, Angeline & Angeline Cambria, brothers Santino, Francis, Tony, Joseph (Pepe), George and Frank Jr Cambria
Mary spent her final years in the wonderful care of her daughter Cindy and son in law Paul.
Mary’s family would like to thank Denise Adult Care Home the excellent care she received.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor of St. Peter’s Church in Lorain, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
