Mary Krieg's Obituary
Mary Krieg (nee Kolesar), age 94, a life long Lorain County resident, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, Lorain.
Mary was born on July 2, 1915 in Lorain, Ohio to Michael and Mary (nee Mikovic) Kolesar. She graduated with the class of 1933 B from Lorain High School.
Mary and her late husband, Arthur J. Krieg, owned and operated, Art Krieg Wholesale & Retail Produce in Elyria and Lorain, retiring in 1978. They also had several open air markets in the area.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Lorain. She donated much of her time to the church, especially in the kitchen making nut rolls and pierogi. She was an excellent cook. Mary really enjoyed dressing up in her many outfits and especially loved bright colored clothing.
Mary is survived by her son, Kenneth Krieg, of Vermilion; grandson, Ken (Laurie) Krieg Jr., of Toledo and her sister, Agnes Darin, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Krieg in 1986; parents, Michael and Mary (nee Mikovic) Kolesar and her brothers, Michael “Max” and John Kolesar.
The Krieg family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Panachida will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral center followed by Divine Liturgy at 12:00 noon at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th. St., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
