Mary Lee Lugar's Obituary
On Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 3:18pm Mary Lee (Tucker) Lugar, the beloved wife of Jim Bob Lugar, Lorain, Ohio, boarded and departed for heaven on the brightest and most beautiful hot air balloon your eyes can imagine. Our family is partial, of course, but to see her was to love her and love her forever we will. She had the kindest soul and the biggest most lovely smile and shared it generously with others. More than anything, she loved her family and we fondly called her Honey, Mama, Grandma and Mimi.
She was raised in Covington, Virginia by her Mama and Step-Dad, the late Mamie Alice (Tucker) Walton and the late Julian B. Walton. In 1967, Mary moved to Lorain, Ohio which became her forever home.
In her younger years, she began her working career at the Silk Mill in Covington, Virginia and later in life retired from Gilbert's Grocery Store on the Eastside of Lorain. She loved meeting and greeting all who entered the store, especially the children.
The past two years, she resided at Kingston of Vermilion, Vermilion, Ohio. She enjoyed the endless events and activities they provided and the wonderful staff who daily worked with them. Her favorite activity was artwork projects which she lovingly gifted to her family. She participated and excelled at bowling, darts, bingo and making new friends. Who could even imagine at the tender age of 95 you would make a new best friend? She and her new BFF, Sylvia, shared many wonderful memories in their short time together but felt like they had known one another their whole lives. Sylvia, who we will always love as family, was with her until the end.
She leaves behind her children, Linda (Bryant) Pavlick (Marko), Richard L. Bryant, Leigh (Keith) Broughman (Mike). Granddaughters, Angela (Pavlick) Cogswell (Scot) and Ashley Pavlick (Tim) and Grandsons, Adam Broughman (Leeandrea) and Holden Broughman (Mahaley). Great Grandchildren, Kayla, Blake, Gracie, Tinley, Aleah and Marko.
She will be missed by her sister, Janet Craft and her brother, James Walton.
Happy to see her again, her siblings, Betty Switzer, Roberta Webb, Julian David Walton, Julia Hyatt Seburn, Sandra Bowman, William J. Walton and Sammy Walton.
The family would like to thank the staff and healthcare providers for their loving care, comfort and support from Kingston of Vermilion (especially the Memory Care Unit) and Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, Ohio.
To honor Mary's wishes no service is planned. Please celebrate her memory in your own way. We know she will be with us all in spirit. Should you wish to honor Mary with a donation, you may consider Kingston of Vermilion, Vermilion, Ohio, Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, Ohio or Grace Baptist Church, Root Rd., Lorain, Ohio.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dovinreberjones.com
