Matthew Andrew Matelski's Obituary
Matthew Andrew Matelski, age 61, passed away after a brief illness. He was born on December 27, 1963, in Lodi, Ohio, to Andrew and Marjorie (née Minor) Matelski.
Matthew was a 1982 graduate of Admiral King High School, where he proudly played basketball. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country from 1984- 1986.
For the past four years, Matthew was employed with Tyson Foods, where he valued the friendships and camaraderie of his co-workers. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Cleveland Guardians and especially cheering for his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved shooting pool, listening to music of all genres, and spending time with his friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Mindy Sue Matelski and Nicole (Matelski) Lankey; grandchildren, Amara and Jacob Pickett, Kenneth Kingsley Jr., and Gabe, Aubrie, and Emily Lankey; brother, Michael (Shauna) Matelski; sisters, Diane Sherwin, Donna Tursivio, and Christine (John) Edreff; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Marjorie Matelski; sister, Mary Edwards; niece,Tara May Pitts; and his brother-in-law, Michael Tursivio.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Road, Avon, Ohio 44011 at a later date.
