Mercedes A. Sandiford's Obituary
Mercedes A. Sandiford (nee Kramer), age 88, passed on October 8, 2013.
Born on July 26, 1925, she graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1943B, and was instrumental in planning all 70 of their class reunions.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lorain until its closing.
After marrying her husband George in 1947, they started a Texaco Service Station, which became Sandy’s RV Center in 1960 until their retirement in 1991.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening and her pets.
Mrs. Sandiford is survived by her husband of 66 years, George; her children, David (Marion), of Tucson, AZ, Paul (Donna), of Atlantic Beach, FL, Diane (Guy) Bush of Amherst, and Nancy (Joseph) Grunda, of Yulee, FL; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and her 2 sisters, Vanita Edleman, of Lorain and Germaine Breno, of Murrieta, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna Kramer and a brother Virgil Kramer.
The Sandiford Family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Closing prayers will be on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral center followed by mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Becherer will officiate along with Deacon Lou Maldonado. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
