Michael Clay Zahratka's Obituary
Michael Clay Zahratka was born on May 11, 1940 to Michael L. and Catherine Zahratka in Mather Pennsylvania. He graduated from Lorain High School, the Cleveland Institute of Art, and Syracuse University where he received a Master's Degree in Fine Arts. He taught at Eastern Michigan University for over 40 years prior to his retirement in 2003. Michael was a very talented creator of contemporary paintings and many unique items including clocks, toys and various art objects. He enjoyed motoring through the Michigan countryside in his Triumph TR3.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, sisters Dorothy Paskvan, Katherine McDermott, Louise Urda, Patricia Weisheit, Mary Jane McPhillips, and best friend Jan Field.
He is survived by brothers Robert (Malvine) and Richard(Susan), sister Diane, 32 nieces and nephews, as well as close friends Andrea David, Peggy Stevenson, and Gretchen Otto.
Per Michael's request, there will be no Ohio services. Private burial will be at Michigan Memorial Park located in Flat Rock Michigan. If desired, memorial contributions should be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
