Michael Zgayb's Obituary
Michael A. Zgayb, age 86, a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 surrounded by family at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He was chief Bailiff of the Lorain Municipal Court and active in Lorain County politics. He retired as manager of George Canalos Company.
Michael enjoyed family, smoking cigars, playing cards, cooking and reading.
He is survived by his son, Michael, of Lorain; daughter, Michele (Robert) Thrasher, of Toledo, nephews, nieces, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Rose Marie (nee Mraz) Zgayb.
The Zgayb family will receive family and friends on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Parastas services will be conducted on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Panachida services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 7th. at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th. Street, Lorain. Fr. Nicholas Rachford, Pastor, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made in memory of Michael, to New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
