Mildred Herrmann Turcus' Obituary
Mildred (nee Kara) Herrmann Turcus, age 75, passed away after a brief illness at Mercy Regional Medical Center, with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
She was born on May 19, 1949, daughter of Frank and Alma (nee Tuma) Kara. Millie was married to Don Herrmann from 1969 until his passing in December 1995. She then married Tim Turcus in 2000 until his passing on February 26, 2023. Millie was raised in Cleveland and attended grade school at Ss. Phillip and James and then graduated from Magnificat, in Rocky River, in 1967. Millie prepared taxes for 49 years, passing the Enrolled Agent test with the IRS. She played basketball and softball from the 6th grade through high school. She had also joined a women’s softball team in 1980, playing with them until 1985. During high school, Millie was also a member of Magnificat’s choir. In her adult life, she lived in Cleveland, Brunswick, Elyria, Rocky River and finally, Lorain. She was devoted to her wonderful children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her parents. She was also dedicated to AA and her recovery for many years, beginning in 1989. Millie was abounding in gratitude for those she helped and for those who helped her.
She is survived by her 4 beloved children and 2 step daughters, Lisa Zingalie, Richard Herrmann, John (Emily) Herrmann and Melissa (Nicholas) Fontanez, Christina (Brett) Billi, Toni Ortiz; grandchildren, Ian (Katherine) Herrmann, Devin Fontanez, Jackson Herrmann, Sandra Fontanez, Genevieve Herrmann, Vincent Zingalie, Jack Herrmann, David (Rebecca) Rivera and Olivia Billi, Evan Billi; 2 great grandchildren, Hunter & Bailey Rivera; and sister, Marie (Tim) Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and a cousin, George Kara.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 4-7 pm at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Friends are also invited to join the family for her funeral service on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:00 am, at the Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 379 S. Main Street, Amherst.
