Mildred Heyslinger's Obituary
Millie “Tivey” Heyslinger (nee Trivanovich), age 96, of Sheffield Township passed away peacefully at Main Street Care Center on December 24, 2017 surrounded by her family’s love. She was affectionately known as “Tivey” to her family and many friends.
She was born in Duquesne, PA on March 16, 1921. Millie and her family moved to Avon Lake, OH in 1927. She was a graduate of Avon Lake High School class of 1938. She was Senior Class President and a cheerleader for 3 years.
During WWII she worked at the American Ship Building Company, Lorain, OH with her sisters. When that job ended she held several roles ranging from waitress to sales clerk at the Higbee Co. at Midway Mall. She retired from Ohio Edison after working there for 17 years. She was an election poll worker in Sheffield Township for many years.
She cherished her time entertaining her family. She loved cooking, baking, canning vegetables from her garden and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She and her husband John loved vacationing on the Florida beaches with their family.
She was a founding member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church where she served as an usher for many years. She held many officer positions in the Altar & Rosary Society.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Pribanic; her two granddaughters, Debbie (Jon) Knechtly, of Loveland, OH and Tammy (Ken) Mason, of Phoenix, AZ; 2 grandchildren, Cole and Rylie Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Louis Trivanovich; her beloved husband of 65 years, John Heyslinger; son-in-law, Dale Pribanic. She was the last of her siblings cherishing the memory of Sam (Emma) Trivanovich, Charlotte Waters, Stanley Trivanovich, Ellen Trivanovich, George (Marie) Trivanovich, and Doris (John) Jurisin.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 noon. Rev. Father Donald Dunson, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in Millie’s memory to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.
