Norma J. Damiano's Obituary
Norma J. Damiano (nee Braden), age 82, passed away peacefully at her son’s home while under the care of Suncrest Hospice on Monday, October 30th, 2023.
She was born on May 1, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA and is a graduate of Mt. Alvernia High School. She lived in California and Penn Hills, PA for a bit before finally settling in Rocky River where she has lived since. Norma began her career in banking when she worked for Mellon Bank in Pennsylvania. Through life, she worked her way up to the marketing department at First Federal of Lakewood, where she finally retired from after 30 years of being there.
Norma loved to read ever since she was a young child. She was also happy to get out and shop, even if she didn’t buy anything but rather, “just to look.” She had a huge place in her heart for animals as well, especially being drawn to elephants, and always making it a point to donate to the ASPCA. Norma had a love of jazz and she loved to dance, with the jitterbug being one of her favorites. She also had a love of art and was exceptional with home décor.
She is survived by her son, Anthony (Rebecca) Damiano, of Rocky River, grandsons, Justin & Ryan, and her siblings; Gregory F. Braden, of Blawnox, PA, Carole A. Marsico, of Butler, PA, Thomas Braden, of Pittsburgh, PA and Glenn D. Braden, of Aspinwall, PA.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Damiano and her parents, Howard W. and Anastasia S. (nee Handzlik) Braden.
Following Norma’s wishes, there will not be any services at this time. The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Because of her love of animals, the family urges those who would like to make a donation in Norma’s memory should do so to any animal shelter of their choice.
