Norma B. Gilbert's Obituary
Norma B. Gilbert, (nee Beese) 93, passed peacefully Monday, November 11, 2024 in Richfield, Ohio.
Norma was born in Elyria, Ohio January 22, 1931 to Helen and Albert Beese and attended the Oberlin school system, graduating in 1948.
After graduating from high school, she enrolled in the Massillon City Nursing School, receiving her Registered Nurse (R.N.) degree in 1951.
Upon graduating, she returned to Oberlin to work in various departments at the Allen Memorial Hospital. She retired from the ICU/CCU unit in 1992, after 25 plus years. She also served as the hospital employees' representative to the hospital board of directors from 1989 - 1991.
Norma married her beloved husband, C. Richard (Dick) Gilbert May 16, 1953 and celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to Dicks' passing, July 26, 2018.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, gardening, reading and playing the piano.
Norma is survived by her daughter Patti, son-in-law Tom Matovich, daughter-in-law Tammy Gilbert, and grandson Cody Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, David Alan, Jeffrey Lee, Michael Paul and sister Carol (Beese) Kern.
We celebrate Norma for her love and dedication to family and friends, and also for the care she showed all her patients throughout the years.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to all her wonderful family and friends who contributed to making her life so fulfilling and blessed.
Funeral arrangements will be made by Dovin & Reber Jones and will be private.
