Norman C. Barno's Obituary
Norman C. Barno, 76, of Lorain, passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his home while under the care of New Life Hospice.
Arriving early while his mother was visiting family, Norman was born on August 24, 1937 in Beccaria, Pennsylvania. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School in 1955B.
Norman served in the US Army from 1958-1960. He was a life-time member of the Lorain Amvets Post 47.
For many years, Norman worked at American Crucible in Lorain retiring from there in 1998.
He enjoyed fishing, especially with his step-father, Bob Bonin, and playing golf.
Norman is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anne (neeTristram); his sons, Stephen, of Amherst, Atty. John (Karla), of Bexley, OH, Christopher (Laura) of Charleston, WV, and David (Dr. Jill) of Canal Winchester, OH; his granddaughters, Kayley, Bethanny, Ashley, and Rylee; his grandsons, Aiden, Paxton and Trevor; his step-father, Dr. Robert Bonin, of Lorain; and his sisters, Patricia Lauren and Martha Kucbel, both of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Barno, his mother Elsie Barno Bonin (nee Irwin) and his brother, Robert.
The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Friends may also gather on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Rev James R. Becherer will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted.
