Olga Batskou's Obituary
Olga Batskou, age 84, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013.
Born on February 6, 1929 in Florina, Greece, she came to the United States in 1983.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain.
Olga enjoyed crocheting and doing needle point and loved to cook.
She is survived by daughters Erifily (the late Theophanis) Papouras, of Elyria, and Petroula (Atnanasios) Pavlidis, of Melbourne, Australia; her sons, Konstantinos (Andrea L.) Varelas, of Altamonte Springs, FL and Nicolaos (Kimberly A. Johnson) Varelas, of Elyria; her grandchildren, Despina T. (Jeffrey A. Simons) Papouras, Maria T. (Erik D.) Pettet; Athanasia T. (Jaime L. Perez) Papouras, Anna (Blair L. James) Pavlidis and David Pavlidis.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Petros and Polixeni (nee Gatzoulis) Batskou and her brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, where a Trisagion service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain. Rev. Fr. James Doukas, Pastor of St. Demetrious Greek Orthodox Church in Rocky River, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Theodosius Cemetery in Cleveland.
