Olga Emerick's Obituary
Olga Mary Emerick (nee Skapin), age 89, a lifelong resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Olga was born on March 23, 1922 in Lorain to the late Leopold and Antonia (nee Debevec) Skapin.
She attended Lorain High School and then went on to cosmetology school. Upon completion of cosmetology school, she worked at several salons in Lorain and in the 1940's opened her own salon in South Lorain and later moved the salon into her home. She has been beautifying Lorain since 1939.
Olga was a devout Catholic , attending both Mary Mother of God Parish in Lorain and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She and her husband, Alex loved to take a drive on a Sunday to Bellevue to visit the Shrine. Traveling and collecting antiques brought her much joy.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Alex; children, Darrell (Jana) Emerick, of New York, Denise (Tim) Jenkins, of Lorain, David (Marcia) Emerick, of Oceanside, CA and Donald (Terrie) Emerick, of Oceanside, CA; grandchildren, Evan, Alex and Kelsie (Seth) Rehn; brother, Robert (Pat) Skapin, of Amherst; sisters, Molly Glavan, of Lorain and Daniella Jere, of Lorain.
The Emerick family will receive family and friends on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, where closing prayers will be said at 11:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
