Janice and Family: Coach Srnis was a huge influence for me as a young Little League kid. He was my coach who inspired me to always do my best. He believed in me as a kid who needed some discipline and I remember his gentle rebuke at my foolishness. I also remember him as my 7th grade science teacher who made learning fun. I was so excited when you and Coach Srnis came to our home for dinner. I think you were newly weds at the time and after you all left, my brother Ron said to my Mom, “that marriage will last.” My Mom asked, “why do you say that?” Ron answered, “because she laughs at his jokes!” Sixty-one years is an amazing testimony! There was one other time Coach stepped up for me and that was just before he left for Amherst and he was helping with the Ashland High School football summer practice. I was struggling to get noticed by the other coaches but after doing my best, Coach Srnis made sure I was recognized. Once again I realized I had an advocate who believed in me. Oh, and I almost forgot the time he invited me to a Father/Son dinner at your church. This was before you all had kids and I was in 7th grade. I was so proud to be seen with Coach Paul Srnis! Just one last thought and it was just a couple of years ago when he and I exchanged letters. My letter was a long overdue “thank you” to a man who so influenced my life. God bless you, Janice, and please know that my prayers are with you and your family. Sincerely, Terry L. Power
