Peggy D. Keppler's Obituary
Peggy D. Keppler (née Sturgill) passed away peacefully at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain on Monday, June 3, 2024. She was born on November 16, 1954, in Sandusky, Ohio. Peggy grew up in Lorain and attended Lorain High School. She spent a significant part of her life in Sheffield Lake before finally returning to Lorain.
Peggy had a distinguished career of 32 years at Ford Motor Company, where she worked as an electrician. She also made history there as the first female painter employed by Ford. She retired in 2007. Peggy was known for being full of the zest for life, and an amazing, fun, and inspirational woman to many. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning her championship title in Women's Featherweight Wrist Wrestling.
Peggy loved staying active and participated in various sports, including softball, volleyball, and Wally ball. She was a motorcycle enthusiast who not only admired but rode her own motorcycle. Peggy also had a passion for classic cars and antique bicycles. For a while, she enjoyed painting as well.
Peggy will be remembered fondly for her vibrant personality, her pioneering spirit, and her many contributions to her community and loved ones.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Stephen J. Keppler, of Lorain; daughter, Tammy (Don Gifford) Cordova, of Lorain; step-sons, Shawn (Jessica) Keppler, Jason (Emily) Keppler and James Keppler; grandchildren, Alexis McCaskey, Antonio C. Reyes III, Anna Keppler, Lilly Keppler, Jake Keppler and Charlie Keppler; great grandchildren, Avah Mihalcik & Easton McCaskey; and her siblings, Eddy Sturgill, Bill (Andrea) Sturgill, Judy Ferguson, Jennifer (James) Cobb, Connie (James) Prescott and Shirley Staveskie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and multitude of friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Millard, Jr. & Gladys (nee Mullins) Sturgill and a brother, John R. Sturgill.
