Peter Avalos' Obituary
Peter Avalos, 96 years young, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, following a brief illness. Born on May 13, 1929, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late John and Mary (née Comancho) Avalos. Peter made his home in Lorain County for many years, where his life was centered on family, faith, and simple joys.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II as part of the ‘greatest generation.’ Following his service, he dedicated many years to Ford Motor Company before his retirement. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain.
Peter found happiness in life’s everyday pleasures, a good cup of coffee, the open road, and the feeling of the wind on his face. He shared his love of riding as a member of the Afro Dogs and Sophisticated Gents motorcycle clubs. He enjoyed spending time and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. In his later years, he could often be found riding his scooter through the neighborhood, a familiar and comforting presence to many.
Above all, Peter was a family man. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy through his children: Peter Avalos, Jr. (Helen), Minerva Fonseca (the late Ken), Otis Avalos (Diane), Harold Avalos, Michael Avalos (Sherri), Mario Avalos, David Avalos (Vicki), Freddie Avalos (Crystal), Moses Avalos, Elizabeth Avalos Samsami (David), Adam Avalos (Cynthia), and Annette Smith (Matt); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Charles Avalos (Marie), Dolores Labanc, Mercy Rollins, Mary Hembree, and Herminia Alvarado (Timo).
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Avalos in 2018; his daughter, Nancy Borer; his son-in-law, Jeff Borer; and several siblings.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
