Philip L. Zudell's Obituary
Philip L. Zudell, age 87, of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center in Lorain.
He was born on September 22, 1930 in Lorain, Ohio to John and Mary Zudell Sr. He was a graduate of Lorain High School. Philip enlisted with the United States Army and was honorably discharged.
Philip retired from US Steel in 1988 where he worked in the Boiler Room. Upon his retirement he worked part time as a school bus driver. For many years, Philip also was a dog groomer.
He was a member of the Vermilion Harbourtown Community Foursquare Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Big Chuck and Lil John on television.
Philip is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clare (nee Ryll); son, Christopher Zudell; daughter, Rebecca Opel; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Aaron, and Alexandra Opel, Anna Fox, Jeremy, Natasha and John Zudell; great-grandson, Darren Zudell; and his brother, David Richard Zudell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Zudell Sr.; and siblings, John, Joseph, Paul, Daniel and Irene.
The Zudell family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A Closing prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., immediately following the visitation.
