Phillip Boyce's Obituary
Phillip C. Boyce, age 59, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 15, 2010 at his residence due to natural causes.
He was born on July 20, 1951 and grew up in Amherst, and resided most recently in Elyria. He graduated from Amherst Marion L. Steel High School in 1969 and had attended Lorain County Community College. Phillip served in the US Navy.
For the past two years he worked at Elyria Hyundai as a salesman. Prior to that, he worked for several years at Jack Matia Honda in Elyria. He also had worked for ten years at Lorain County Correctional Institution as a sergeant.
He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his mother, Anna (nee Pittak); his brothers, David Allan (Susan), of Aiken, SC, William George (Sun) of Crestview, FL, and John Patrick (Jacki), of Amherst; his sisters, Aileen “Lainie” (Kenneth) Maslinski, of Vermilion, and Patricia Ann (Robert) Hill, of Avon Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Charles Boyce, on August 22, 2010.
The family will receive friends at a memorial celebration on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. in The Family Gathering Center at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, where an Alcoholics Anonymous service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 1689 E. 115 St., Cleveland, OH 44106.
