Phyllis Dovala's Obituary
Phyllis J. Dovala (nee Pandy), age 74, of Amherst, died on Monday, February 1, 2010 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
She was born on October 27, 1935 in Lorain. She graduated from Lorain High School. Phyllis was a proud member of Delta Pi. In the mid-1960's she moved to Amherst.
In addition to being a devoted daughter, wife and mother, Phyllis enjoyed working various jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked for City Bank, Lorain and had lived and worked in California for a short period of time. She enjoyed working for Margie's Hallmark, Treasures in the Attic, and for several years, Phyllis worked as a teacher's aide in the Amherst Schools.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Lorain. Phyllis enjoyed working in the yard and enjoying nature. She was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald J.; her sons, Stephen G. (Pamela Westermeyer), of Villa Hill Farm, KY; David J., of Amherst, and Don A. (Sandra), of Vermilion and 3 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Emma (nee Goohs) Pandy and her brother, Donald Pandy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 7:30 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Rev. Laurie Miller will officiate.
