Phyllis J. Fior's Obituary
Phyllis J. Fior (nee Pienoski), age 85, of Amherst passed Friday, November 15, 2013 at her home under the care of New Life Hospice.
She was born on February 15, 1928 in Lorain, Ohio to Dominic and Josephine Pienoski and was a graduate of Lorain High School. Phyllis was co-owner and the office manager for H. Fior General Contractor Inc., a business founded by she and her husband, Harry in 1949.
Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst and was a former member of their Altar and Rosary Society. She was an avid reader and loved to travel and was very spiritual. It was important to her to preserve her Polish heritage, especially during the holidays. Phyllis was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Gregory H. (Cathy) Fior, of Amherst; daughters, Rene F. (Chuck) Corne, of Landrum, South Carolina, Cynthia (Bill) VanDeweerd, of Amherst, Barbara (Steve) Bialko, of Amherst, Felicia (Bill) Fior-Nossek, of Huron and Dominique (Rick) Sorbo, of Lorain; grandchildren, Matthew, Natalie and Anthony Fior, Justin and Nicholas Hopkins, Christopher and Alex Bialko; 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harry; parents, Dominic and Josephine Pienoski; brothers, Ted and Daniel Pienoski.
The Fior family will receive friends on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made in memory of Phyllis to the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, 4106 Ohio 269, Bellevue, OH 44811 or to St. Joseph School , 175 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH, for the education of students.
