Phyllis M. Zelnik's Obituary
Phyllis M. Zelnik of Whitewater, Wisconsin passed away September 30, 2022 just 2 days before her 93rd. birthday.
She lived most of her life in Lorain after coming to Lorain during the depression with her mother and father. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and graduated from Lorain High School.
Phyllis worked as a lab technician at St. Joseph Hospital and Lorain Community Hospital in Lorain. She enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling, and especially enjoyed her family.
She is survived by her three children, Jim (Glenda) Zelnik, of Corpus Cristi, Texas, Audrey Toothman, of North Olmsted, and Melinda (Gordon) Hamilton, of Chandler, Arizona; 6 grandchildren, Dominic (Jesssica) Zelnik, Jessica (Ryan) Camp, Geoffrey Toothman, Lindsey (David) Salazar, Jennifer (Marcelo) Ramirez, and David (Kristy) Sokol; 5 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Felicity, Ayla, Cecilia “Ceci”, and Connor; 2 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Zelnik, and Karen Zelnik; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Dominic; and her parents, Alfred and Melinda (nee Klumb) Paskey.
Phyllis and Dominic enjoyed each other, swimming and traveling while being retired for 27 years together. After Dominic’s passing, she continued traveling with her daughter, Audrey, to Ft. Worth, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Loveland, Colorado and Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Being from Wisconsin, Phyllis was a lifelong Packers fan. She was also a dog lover having a few during her life. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #627.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1019 W. 5th. Street, Lorain, Ohio. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
