Rachel Ruth Stump's Obituary
Rachel Ruth Stump (nee Thrasher), age 75, Lorain passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Mercy New Life Center in Lorain.
She was born on December 31, 1942 in Lakewood, Ohio to Carl Norman and Ruth Mildred (nee Cotton) Thrasher and was a 1961 graduate of Elyria High School.
Rachel worked for many years as a Home Health Aide. She volunteered for the Toys for Tots Campaign and was featured in an article in the Chronicle Telegram for her service. She was very generous in sponsoring families in need during the Christmas season. Rachel was also the recipient of the St. Mary’s 4th grade volunteer of the year award.
She thoroughly enjoyed flower gardening, shopping, taking care of her children and grandchildren, crafting and card playing.
Rachel is survived by her children, Lisa (Scott) Yates, of Amherst, Jeff (Jana) Stump, of Amherst, Thomas Stump, of Jackson, Susan (Matt) Diehl, of Lorain, and John (Denise) Stump, of Lorain; grandchildren, Justin Stump, Jason Stump, Zachary Fortin, Aaron Diehl, Devin Stump, Austin Stump, Andrew Diehl, Marshall Busey, Meghan Stump, and Mitchell Diehl; great-grandson, John Easton; siblings, Carl (Anne) Thrasher, Robert Thrasher, Marge (Bill) Snyder, and Joyce (Carl) Hopkins; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ruth Thrasher; and brothers, James (Joyce) Thrasher, and John Thrasher.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst and again on Saturday, April 28th. from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
Contributions may be made in memory of Rachel to the Toys for Tots Lorain, 5867 Lee Avenue, North Ridgeville, OH 44039. The family encourages flowers as Rachel loved flowers.
