Randy R. Rakich's Obituary
Randy R. Rakich, age 61, of Amherst passed away peacefully Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his home under the care of New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
He was born on December 19, 1951 in Lorain, Ohio to Milan and Stella (nee Toth) Rakich. Randy was a 1970 graduate of Admiral King High. Upon his graduation from high school he went on to further his education at Ohio University graduating in 1974 with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science.
Randy owned and operated Rakich and Rakich Inc. on Broadway, in Lorain since 1979. He purchased the business from Louis Cohn where he had started his career in sales. He specialized in men’s clothing and tuxedo rentals and later became known as the “The Uniform Man” supplying uniforms to Police, Fire and Postal Service Departments throughout the state of Ohio. He was very proud of the relationship and friendships that he developed with the service departments. Randy was very passionate about his business and considered each and every customer a friend. He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ Church in Amherst, OH, the Black River Masonic Lodge #786, in Lorain and the Lorain Downtown Growth Association.
Randy loved to travel, especially beach vacations with his family and friends. He loved life and made an impression on all those he met. He was a true family man and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Denise (Nee Cooke); daughter, Jessica Rakich; son, Jared Rakich; mother, Stella (nee Toth) Rakich; sister, Audrey (Frank) Horvath; brother, Dave (Barb) Rakich;mother-in-law, Fran Cooke; sister-in-law, Debbie (Bob) Radachi; nephews, nieces and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Milan Rakich.
The Rakich family will receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where funeral services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mark Pemberton of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Amherst, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Rev. Mark Pemberton, Dr. George Bescak and New Life Hospice for the care and compassion that was shown to Randy and his family.
