He was born on September 28, 1929 in Waynesburg, PA. When he was older, he came to Lorain for work, finally moving his wife and family here in 1951. He was an excellent welder and took great pride in his work.

He and his wife, along with a few others, put their home up for collateral to have the church built. He was a board member there, as well as running the bus system and was a Sunday School teacher. In his retirement years, Raymond enjoyed going to his family farm in Pennsylvania to raise sheep. In addition to the church and farm, he loved being involved in his children’s lives and enjoyed going hunting.
He is survived by his children; Timothy Fordyce, of Lorain, Christopher (Carolyn) Fordyce, of Charleston, SC, Gregory (Jacquelyn) Fordyce, of Lorain, Tanya (Toby) Pritchett, of Amherst, and Melissa Snow, of Anderson, MO, his 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and a sister, Carolyn West, of Lorain, OH.
