Raymond Hudson's Obituary
Raymond C. “Uncle Ray" Hudson, age 50, of Lorain died on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at New Life Hospice Residential Center.
He was born on August 27, 1959 in Bay Village, Ohio. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1978. In 1983 he moved to Lorain and has resided here ever since.
He served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1978 -1982. He was stationed in New River Air Station in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He was active in the Iran mission in the attempt to get the hostages out of Iran. He also served as a helicopter mechanic in the Marines.
For the past 20 years he worked as a self-employed carpenter working all over the county.
He was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church, Amherst. An active Boy Scout, he served as an assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 409 in Vermilion. He also had earned the rank of Eagle Scout and had the proud honor to watch his son earn it as well. He also volunteered much of his time and talent volunteering at the Boy Scout Camp, making repairs and installing windows and doors.
Years ago, he coached Little League Baseball in Lorain. He then trained to become an umpire and was certified as an Ohio High School Athletic Association umpire.
Some of his greatest joy came from working with kids. He was the current coach of Open Door Christian School bowling team. He also volunteered for the high school marching band boosters and was a board member of Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra, in Oberlin.
He was a talented artist who enjoyed working with many mediums including charcoal and watercolors. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Brenda (nee Bell), his son, Kristoffer James, at home; his mother, Janice Hudson (nee Munson); and a brother, William of Euclid.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy.
The family invites friends to gather on Saturday, January 16th from 10:30 a.m. until the time of memorial ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 N. Leavitt Rd., Amherst. Pastor James Smucker will officiate. Military honors will be conducted also. The family invites friends to join them at a reception in the church hall immediately following all ceremonies.
