Reyes "Pete" Garcia's Obituary
Reyes Pete Garcia, age 72, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away on September 14, 2022. Pete was born, in Lorain, to Ysidro Reyes and Anita M. Garcia. Lorain is where he was raised.
He was a devoted and loving husband of 41 years to Michele, spending 45 years together as her best friend and companion. Spending time with his family was a priority and especially loved vacationing with his nieces and nephews. Pete was an avid golfer, particularly enjoying the challenge of the sport. He took pleasure in the camaraderie he had with his work buddies and friends. Traveling to Europe was a passion. Some of his favorite places to roam were the vineyards of Tuscany and Paris, and always looked forward to the winters in Cabo, Mexico and Naples, Florida. Pete proudly served in the United States Marine Corp, COE,2nd battalion,1st marine division, infantry for 2 years and served in Vietnam for one year…Semper Fi. Pete was a kind, caring and generous man, always a gentleman to everyone he touched. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Candelaria and Victor Ceja, and his father, Ysidro Reyes Garcia. Surviving are his mother, Anita M. Garcia; siblings, Raul Garcia, Rita Garcia, Clarita Whorton, Diana Smetzer, Michele Garcia and all of their families.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Saint Joseph Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001, from 11:00 am until the time of his memorial Mass at 12:30 pm. Rev. Fr. Timothy J. O’Connor, Pastor, will officiate. Full military honors will follow immediately after Mass.
