Richard Frank Bogardy's Obituary
Richard "Dick" Bogardy, passed away at home on July 26,2024 at the age of 78. He was born Oct. 17, 1945 in Dorchester, MA. A lifelong resident of Amherst, he graduated from Marion L. Steele in 1963. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1968, where he was stationed in Germany.
He is survived by the love of his life, Janet (Kordek) for 52 years, whom he met on a blind date. Also survived by cousins, his favorite rugrats and ankle biters (nieces and nephews).
He worked at Span Master, Avon Lake, before retiring from Ford Motor. He was a very active member of the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard. A jack of all trades at the Amherst American Legion Post 118, assisting his grasshopper, Dan. He served as a former Trustee and current Charity Committee Chairman of Post 118. Also, a member of Amherst Eagles 1442, Lorain Columbian Club, Moose Lodge #552 and Vermilion Amvets Post 22. He enjoyed rides with his wife in their Corvette, boating, playing poker and blackjack, and was an expert woodworker.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Gertrude "Sis" Bogardy, in-laws Joe and Lorraine Kordek, and brothers-in-law Fred and Bill Kordek.
There will be no services at his request. Interment will be private at Rittman at a future date.
