Richard F. Foos' Obituary
Richard F. Foos, age 77, of Amherst, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Brooklyn Pointe Assisted Living, in Brooklyn, Ohio. He was under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve, Westlake.
He was born on May 13, 1943 in Lorain and is a 1961 graduate of Lorain High School. He also earned his Associate’s Degree in Arts from Lorain County Community College in 1987. Rich was employed for 45 years by Ford Motor Company at both the Lorain and Avon Lake plants, where he was an electrician, finally retiring in 2008. Rich was a Mason with membership to the Grand Lodge of Ohio for Stonington, Lodge 503, R & A.M.
Richard enjoyed being a pilot and flying to various airports while logging many hours. Richard just genuinely enjoyed traveling the world, especially with his wife, Sandy, by his side. They traveled to many places, with NASCAR races being a favorite destination. When he wasn’t traveling or flying, you would find him enjoying a good book, driving around at various parks looking at the birds, deer & simply enjoyed nature. Rich also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, helping build homes for those in need.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard C. Foos, of Chandler, Arizona, daughter and son-in-law, Sonia Ceja-Alvarez and Miguel Alvarez, of Amherst, a sister, Joyce Davis (nee Foos), of Huron, nephews and nieces; Carl Bober of Huron, Anne Molnar (nee Bober) of Huron, David Simko and Emiko "Amy" Simko (nee Kuba), of Slidell, LA, Nadine Bober of Huron, Bruce Simko of Sheffield Lake, Edith Simko of Sheffield Lake, Alan LaPlante, of Lorain and Peggy LaPlante of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra M. Foos (nee Schieferstein), in 2015, his parents; Otto F. and Nina L. (nee Baker) Foos, and his sisters; Billie LaPlante and Barbara Simko.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 10:00 am until noon at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
