Richard C. Gladish's Obituary
Richard C. Gladish, age 87, of Lorain, went to be with the Lord and reunite with his beloved wife on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
He was born on January 6, 1931 in Lorain. He was a graduate of Lorain High School and continued his education by attending Miami University, Ohio. He proudly served his country while in the United States Navy during the Korean War, from 1951 until being honorably discharged in 1955. Throughout his working life, Dick was employed by Ford, US Steel, Lorain County Community College, and Mercy Regional Medical Center. For many years he was self-employed, but after he retired from his self-employment, he went to work again. After his retirement, many people knew him from working as an attendant at the Giant Eagle Get-Go Station in Amherst for a few years. He was a long-time member of the First Lutheran Church, Lorain.
In his younger years, Dick and his late wife enjoyed traveling together on their many vacations and cruises, especially to Hawaii.
He will be dearly missed by his 3 daughters; Karen (Larry) Turner, of Lorain, Sharon Gibson, of Vermilion, and Diane (Donald) Hans, of Lorain, his grandchildren; Jessica (Ron) Myers, Jon Turner, Angela Gibson(Anthony Faiken), Scott, Jr. (Amanda Los) Gibson, Christopher (Hanna) Gibson, Melanie (Alan) Jordan Larkins, and Craig (Lindsey) Jordan, and his great grandchildren; Julia Myers, Jon Turner, Jr., Anthony Faiken, Jr., Elijah and Emelia Gibson, Corey and Owen Larkins, Adeline Jordan, and he would have been so proud to have met his 8th great grandchild, who is on her way, Alaina Jean Gibson.
The family would also like to extend a special heartfelt “Thank You” to his close friend and caregiver, Netta McCoy. The family is also extremely appreciative of the kindness from Dr. Bescak and his staff.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jean Louise (nee Long) Gladish, a son, Christopher, brother, William Gladish, Jr., sister, Charlotte (nee Emerich) Gladish, and parents; William and Helen (nee Butcher) Gladish.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 17, from 9:30 am until the time of his memorial service at 11:00 am., at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio.
