Richard A. Knick's Obituary
Richard A. “Rick” Knick, age 55, of Lorain passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at his home.
He was born on October 21, 1960 in Lorain, Ohio and attended Brookside High School. Rick enlisted with the United States Army in 1980. He was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1986. Rick was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 47 in Lorain.
Rick made his career as a truck driver. He enjoyed working on cross word and Sudoku puzzles. He was very handy and had a talent for being able to fix anything, especially cars and lawnmowers. More than anything he enjoyed the time that he spent with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie; grandchildren, Brandon, Joseph, and Kayla; mother, Dolores Stauder; siblings, Debbie Knick, Sandy (Dave) Kirsch, Tom (Kathy) Knick, Brenda (Jeff) Newman, and Dennis (Michelle) Knick; nieces and nephews, Nicole Manzo, Sean Kirsch, Corey Knick, Kaitlyn Knick, Megan Knick, Staff Sergeant Jordan (Elizabeth) Newman, Emma Knick, Michael Knick.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Knick, in 2003; and his nephew, Chris Newman, in 2016.
The Knick family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Rick to the Department of Veterans Affairs, 10701 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106. Attention: Voluntary Services.
