Richard "Scott" Roule's Obituary
Richard S.“Scott” Roule, age 62, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.
Scott was born on December 15, 1962, in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania, but lived all of his life in Lorain. He was a 1981 graduate of Lorain High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Cleveland State University and Master’s Degree from Ashland University. Prior to this, he was employed by Pepsi. Following in his father’s footsteps, he devoted himself to teaching for 33 years with the Lorain City Schools. He was looking forward to retiring this year.
Beyond teaching, Scott was deeply involved in coaching football and basketball for Lorain Catholic and Admiral King for many years. He was a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge #1301, the Croatian Club, the IAV, and the American Legion.
Scott had a passion for life. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He always looked forward to deer hunting with his son, visiting his Pennsylvania roots, and trips to the casino. He found great joy in entertaining at the “Ponderosa” and was well-known for “tending bar” at the Elks, where he shared many laughs, stories, and good times with friends and family.
Scott’s presence, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his fiance, Lori Banes; children, Sally Roule, Richard Roule, Rileigh Roule and Timmy Roule; grandson, Ricky; his siblings, Baron (Chris) Roule and Heather Roule; nephews, Spencer (Karlee), Branson and Jake; and niece, Sydney (Megan).
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Richard T. & Mary Gail (nee Lowden) Roule.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 12-3:30 pm at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. At 3:30 pm the Elks will conduct a service to conclude his visitation hours. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
