Richard Paul Toth's Obituary
Richard Paul Toth, age 88, of Sheffield Lake passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019. He was born on August 2, 1930 in Lorain, Ohio to Aaron and Stella Toth.
He attended Lorain High School. Richard enlisted with the United States Army on May 23, 1951 and was Honorably Discharged on April 3, 1957. He made his career at US Steel, retiring in 1992, after 45 years of service.
Richard loved being a grandfather to his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for always giving them money, candy, or gum. His grandchildren also had a great love for him, so much so that he served as the best man in his grandson Aaron’s wedding. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland sports teams through thick and thin, Hungarian food, and loved animals, especially his daughter’s dogs. He was a car lover and collected model cars and also had a collection of state quarters. Going to the casino and spending every Sunday with his family brought him much joy.
Richard was a jokester and could put a smile on anyone’s face. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Rick Toth, of Lorain; daughter, Shelley (David) Hurst, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Cory, Chris, and Cody Toth, and Aaron Hurst, Amanda Schoeppler, and Nick Hurst; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Toth.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie (nee Csincsak) Toth; parents, Aaron and Stella Toth; sisters, Stella Rakich, and Olga Kulik; and brother, Aaron Toth.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center followed by interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. Rev. Peter Toth, Pastor of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain UCC, will officiate.
