Rita M. Schneider's Obituary
Rita M. Schneider, age 88, a lifelong resident of Lorain passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Lakewood Hospital after a short illness.
She was born on May 13, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio to Neil and Mary (nee Kutting) O’Connor and graduated from Lorain High School.
Rita worked for 15 years at St. Joseph Hospital in accounts payable. She was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Red Hat Ladies.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing.
Rita is survived by her children, Dave (Karen) Schneider, Diane (Al) Beljan, Douglas (Lisa) Schneider and Debbie Rader; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis O’Connor; and her sister, Betsy Jaworski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1978; parents, Neil and Mary O’Connor; brother, David O’Connor; and sisters, Joann Chapla and Donna Rajher.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 12th. at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
