Rito Collazo Oyola's Obituary
Rito “Tito” Collazo Oyola, age 87, of Lorain, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 3, 1926 in Cidra, Puerto Rico and has lived in Lorain since the early 1950’s.
For 25 years he worked at Ford Motor Company in the foundry. After his retirement from there, he owned and operated Long Avenue Market at the corner of 18th St. and Long Ave for 20 years.
He was an active member of Sacred Heart Chapel. He was in the Men’s Society and the Cursillo Movement.
Tito is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Nestor) Fernandez, of Elyria; his sons, Juan (Debbie) Collazo, of Lorain and Carlos (Estelle) Collazo, of Juncos, PR; his grandchildren, Nestor (Elizabeth) Fernandez, Rick (Christina) Fernandez, Nicolas (Tina) Fernandez, Christian (Evelyn) Collazo, Carla (Eliezer) Collazo and Jolyn Jones; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rito Collazo, Jr.; his brother, Juan Collazo, and his sister, Juanita Collazo.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Friends may also call on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
