Robert "Bob" Paul Lloyd's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Paul Lloyd Sr., 80, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in his home on January 21, 2026.
Born on October 22, 1945, in Billerica, Massachusetts, Bob was the son of James and Ellen (née Carney) Lloyd. At the age of 12, he moved to the Lorain area, where he made his home for the remainder of his life.
Bob was known as an avid runner and Boston sports fan - the biggest Larry Bird and Tom Brady fan you could ever meet. He loved traveling back to Boston and could often be found cheering on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Above all else, Bob’s world revolved around his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply and proudly. He was also a proud throat cancer survivor, a testament to his strength and resilience.
Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked at the Lorain Ford Plant for 33 years, retiring in 2003.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Sue (née Gibson) Lloyd; his mother-in-law, Dorothy (née Jones) Gibson; his children, Tonya (Anthony) Nanni, Robert “Bobby” Lloyd Jr., Shawn (Meghan) Lloyd, and Karlee (Adrian) Taylor; his son-in-law, Charles Leininger; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; along with many brother and sister-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law (Floyd Gibson); his beloved daughter, Deborah Lloyd Leininger (November 20, 2025); his sisters, Loretta, Gertrude, and Isabel; his brothers, Edward, James Jr., Richard, and Joseph “Butch”; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob will be remembered for his devotion to family, his unwavering loyalty, his love of sports, and the pride he took in those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through generations.
Forever loved. Deeply missed.
