Robert Cerlan's Obituary
Robert Cerlan, age 84, of Sheffield Village passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on December 23, 1928 in Elyria, Ohio to John and Elizabeth (nee Molnar) Cerlan. Robert enlisted with The United States Army in January of 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio and served with the 179th. Hospital in Adak, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in June 1948.
Robert made his career as a truck driver for Murphy Motor Freight. He retired in 1985 after 40 years. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Good Sam Club. He was proud to have been a member of the One Million Mile Club for driving without an accident.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Scott, of Sheffield Village and Denise Waldron, of Lorain; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
The Cerlan family will receive friends on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon in the Dovin Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12:00 noon. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor of the Church of St. Peter, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post #451 and The American Legion Post # 30.
