Robert Edwards' Obituary
Robert Edwards, age 81, of Amherst Twp., passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at Hearthstone Assisted Living surrounded by his Family.
He was born in Lorain, Ohio on May 9, 1928. He has been a resident of Amherst Twp. For 48 years.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Robert worked for 17 years for the Ohio Turnpike and was very instrumental in organizing the labor union for the Ohio Turnpike. He owned and operated Edwards Property Maintenance Co. for 30 years and several rental companies in the area. He had also owned and operated the Pottery Shop in Vermilion years ago. He was incredibly generous and giving to all his tenants.
Picture taking, offering advice, driving and sightseeing, and trips to Lakeview Park were among Robert's favorite things to do. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Children were very special to him.
Robert is survived by his children, Barbara Hudson of Lorain, Donald Edwards of Amherst, Michael (Sandy) Edwards of Amherst, Judy (Terry) Schatz of Wellington, Peggy (Paul) Stefanik of Wellington and Kelly Edwards of Amherst; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; Brothers, Raymond Edwards of Elyria and Harold Edwards of Florida; Sister, Harriet Mate of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Jean (nee Burke) in 1995; Brothers Eldon Edwards Jr. , Francis Edwards and Donald Edwards; parents, Eldon and Esther Edwards Sr.
Family will receive on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road. A memorial service will not be held until Monday October 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Inurnment in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
