Robert L. Gainer's Obituary
Robert was born to John and Rose (Smith) Gainer on August 24, 1951. He was the fourth of six siblings, John, Jr., Diane (Gainer) Washington, Richard Bishop (deceased), Robin (deceased) and Roxanne (Gainer) Oliver. Robert was married to his third wife, Cheryle (Brown) Gainer, for nine years. Robert was also the proud father of 6 children, Orlando Myers, Rayshawn Myers (deceased), CaSaundra Gainer, Tiana Gainer, Phillip Gainer and Alysa Gainer. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Robert was a man of few words but many trades, which included working as a truck driver and a machinist. He loved to work with his hands and build things and was in the process of converting a sprinter van into a recreational vehicle. Robert was also a very accomplished artist and had a great eye for photography, and being newly retired, was just getting ready to continue his endeavors in those areas. He was a very spiritual person and was a member of a few churches in the Cleveland and Lorain County areas. Robert was also a very enthusiastic Cleveland sports fan, with an undying love for the Browns, the Cavs and the Guardians. He loved going to Guardians games with his wife. Robert will be truly missed by all who loved him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1st, from 3 – 4 pm at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Immediately following the visitation, at 4:00 pm, the opportunity will be given for those who would like to share a brief thought or memory of Robert may do so.
