Robert J. Hogan's Obituary
Robert Joseph Hogan, age 76, of Sheffield Lake, formerly of Detroit, died on Monday, December 12, 2022. He was born on April 19, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Josephine (nee Kuharski) Hogan.
He graduated from Salesian Catholic High School in Detroit. He attended Wayne State University in Detroit for 2 years. He received a Diploma from Control Data Institute for Programming, in Arlington, Va. Bob served in the Army Security Agency from 1966-1970. He was a Vietnam Veteran, May 1967- May 1968. Bob was awarded the National Service Defense Medal, Good Conduct Service Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60, and the Military Unit Commendation Medal.
Bob enjoyed sports and just walking each day for relaxation. Bob retired from ATT/Ohio Bell after 35 years. He was a member of The VFW Post 8686, in Sheffield Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (nee Tomer); son, Michael, of Columbus; sisters, Mary (Leon) Herriman, of Mason, MI, and Kathleen Hogan, of Lansing, MI; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie L. Hogan; brother, Edward (Gail), stepbrother, Robert (Nancy) Charette; brothers-in-law, Paul (Chris) Tomer, George (Essy) Tomer, and Tom (Debra) Tomer.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Father Stephen Shields, Pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The Amherst Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors.
