Robert Michael Imbrogno's Obituary
Robert Michael Imbrogno, age 90, of Lorain passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.
He was born on July 24, 1931, in Avon, Ohio to Eugene and Caterina (nee Napoli) Imbrogno and attended Lorain High School class of 1949 B.
In 1946 at the age of 16, Robert and his father, Eugene, built brick- by- brick the Imbrogno Gasoline Service Station on the corner of Colorado and Henderson Drive, in Lorain. Robert was the owner and operator of the Standard Oil service station for 42 years and retired in 1988. He had a strong work ethic and took great pride in his business.
Robert was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, traveling, and spending the winters in Florida with his wife, whom he had an unending love and devotion to. All those that knew Robert, knew that he was very passionate about politics and had many lively discussions over the years. Robert always put his family first and just before his birthday, he told his children all he wanted for his birthday was a happy family. The family joined together and had a joyful time celebrating his 90th. birthday.
He is survived by his children, James J. (Deborah) Imbrogno, Robert E. Imbrogno, Laura A. (Kenneth) Niemiec, and Beverly J. (Robert) Smigel; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Teresa (nee Imbrogno) Zientarski.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Joan Marie (Cisarik) Imbrogno in 2019; parents, Eugene and Caterina (nee Napoli) Imbrogno; and his siblings, Louis Imbrogno, Edward N. Imbrogno, Dulio F. Imbrogno, and Loretta (nee Imbrogno) Lehocz.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Closing prayers will be held on Thursday, September 2nd. at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
