Robert Russell Jordan's Obituary
Robert Russell Jordan, born on January 29, 1944, in Huttonsville, West Virginia, to Jay and Wanna Jordan, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Robert graduated from Elyria High School in 1963 before enlisting in the United States Army on April 20, 1965. He served honorably until April 3, 1967, and continued his service in the Army Reserves until his official discharge on April 19, 1971. During his military tenure, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, One Overseas Bar, Expert (Rifle M-14), and the Gold Conduct Medal (1st Award).
A man of faith, Robert was a member of the Church of Christ of E. Broad Street. He was a hardworking and dedicated employee, spending 44 years with BASF Corporation before retiring in April 2011. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting waterfowl, solving puzzles, and traveling to Amish Country with his family to gather fresh produce. He found immense joy and peace simply sitting in his yard, watching wildlife.
Above all, Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and took great pride in his growing family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Margaret (nee Driver); his children, Roy (Daisy) Jordan, Brenda (Joe) Brewer, Cindy (Ryan) Toppings, Tara (Joe) Taylor, Robert Jordan, and Tammy Cortez; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one grandson on the way; and two great-grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Wilma Barkley; and his precious grandson, Ashton Taylor.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ of E. Broad Street, 1125 E. Broad Street, Elyria, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church, Randy Cook, Matt Cook, and Terry S. will be officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
