Robert Ockajik's Obituary
Robert Ockajik, age 60 of Lorain passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday March 10, 2023
He was born August 13, 1962 in Paris, France to Joseph and Ginette (Maury) Ockajik and was a member of the 1980 class at Southview High School.
Robert had worked for over 30 years at Plastipak Packaging in Medina, Ohio and prior to that had worked at USG in Westlake, Ohio.
He could always be found on the sidelines, in the stands or comfortably in a lawn chair at any of his nieces and nephew’s events. Robert was always up for a road trip to a casino be it local or out of state, not often coming home a winner but enjoying the trip all the same. He had a profound love for animals and never missed an opportunity to spend time with a furry friend and appreciating his walks and bike rides through the Lorain County Metroparks. He also had a passion for motorsports and shared this love with his brothers and brother-in-law. He also liked to brag about a good thrift find.
Robert is survived by his mother Ginette Ockajik, sisters Joseline (Donald) Davidson of Lorain, Andrea (Victor) Bronish of Chatham; brothers Jacques (Lisa) of Lorain and James (Tracey Vanderwyst) of Spencer; nieces & nephew Renee Lampe, Bruce Davidson, Brittnay (Brandon) Palermo, Racheal (Michael) Torres and Sarah Ockajik; great niece & nephews Emaleigh Gula, Rocco & Gino Palermo.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph in 1997, brother Joseph in 1956, brother Andre in 2013 and his great nephew Michael Torres in 2010.
The Ockajik Family will receive friends on Monday March 20, 2023 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Dovin, Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private family internment will take place at a later date. The family does ask that donations be made in Robert’s honor with either the Friendship APL of Lorain County or the American Diabetes Association.
