Robert Frank Sarby's Obituary
Robert Frank Sarby, 88, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Amherst Manor Nursing Home, entering into rest in the hands of the Lord.
He was born on December 9, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Theodore and Stella (nee Malek) Sarby. Robert was a 1955 graduate of St. John Cantius High School in Cleveland. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Naval Reserve for 12 years, retiring with the rank of Boatswain's Mate Third Class.
After his military service, Robert built a successful career in sales with the J.R. Holcomb School Supply Company, where he dedicated 20 years before retiring in 1998. In 1999, he relocated to Florida, where he spent many years before returning to Amherst in 2020, where he remained until his passing.
Robert will be remembered for his steady presence, dedication to his work, and love for his family. He was deeply devoted to his beloved wife, Ruth M. Sarby, who preceded him in death on January 19, 2025. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Stella Sarby.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Carol (Dale) Kanzig and Joan (Terry) Leonard, along with extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:45 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Funeral services will follow immediately at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral center. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
