Roberta Farley's Obituary
Roberta Farley (nee Rathbun), 89, of Ashland passed away on April 6, 2012 at Kingston of Vermilion Nursing Facility after a short illness. She was born August 15, 1922 in Norwalk, Ohio. Roberta was a 1940 graduate of New London High School, New London, Ohio. She moved to Ashland in 1966 and was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had a 52 year secretarial career in the New London and Ashland area. She was an active volunteer in her church, the Ashland County Democratic Party, and as a literacy tutor for the Ashland Public Library. Her interests included calligraphy, painting, reading, crocheting, and attending concerts and plays with friends.
Surviviors include sons Steven (Patricia) of Vermilion, Ohio and Michaeal of San Jose, California, grand-daughter Cara, and great-grandson Patrick. She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" in 1972 and her parents George Clare and Elsie Ann Rathbun (nee Perry).
Private burial will take place at the Fitchville Cemetery and a gathering celebrating Roberta's life will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
