Dr. Ronald Joseph Reber, “Doc” D.D.S., age 86, of Lorain passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
He was born on September 29, 1936 in Lorain, Ohio to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Gerbec) Reber. He was a 1954 graduate of Lorain High School where he was a member of the band playing the trumpet. He attended Western Reserve University from 1954- 1957 and was accepted in Western Reserve Dental School after 3 years of undergraduate studies and graduated in 1961. Upon his graduation from Dental School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a dentist stationed at Sheppard Air Force in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was honorably discharged in 1963 at the rank of Captain.
In 1963, he and his wife Phyllis and son, Ron returned to Lorain where he began his private dental practice for 50 years, retiring in 2011. To say dentistry was his life is an understatement. His compassion, dedication, and the love he had for all his patients was immeasurable. He served on the Dental Staff at St. Joseph Hospital, in Lorain, and was a Clinical Instructor at both Baby & Children’s Hospital of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve Dental School.
Doc was a member of the Lorain County Dental Society, serving as President in 2005, the Lorain County Health & Dentistry Advisory Board and he was very active at Lorain Catholic High School. He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Lorain.
He loved reading, walking, traveling with his wife, and of course his coffee. Doc and Phyllis loved the time they spent with their grandchildren, going to the movies and just bumming around, especially when they were young. He will always be remembered by those who loved him for his true kindness and sincerity.
He is survived by his son, Randy (Kelly) Reber; daughter, Pamela Reber (Bill) Jones; granddaughter, Megan (Fiancé Tyler Mullins) Reber; grandsons, Matthew Reber, Austin Jones and Cole Jones.
