Ronald M. Limpach's Obituary
Ronald M. Limpach, 86, of Westlake, Ohio, died peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026 in Westlake, Ohio after a short illness. He was surrounded by his family. He was a longtime resident of Amherst, Ohio, before entering a senior living facility in Westlake following the passing of his beloved wife, where he was visited each week by his children.
He was born on December 6, 1939, in Lorain, Ohio, and was the only child of the late Ralph M. Limpach and Eupheme Limpach (née Baginski). After graduating from Lorain High School in 1957, he served his country in the U.S. Army Security Agency, stationed in Chitose, Japan.
He graduated from Lorain County Community College and married Joanne M. Zilka on Memorial Day in 1964. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage. He began his career as a welder before serving the community as a firefighter, eventually rising to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief in Elyria, Ohio. After retirement, Ron and Joanne moved to Upper Captiva, Florida, where he served as Fire Chief. They later returned to Ohio, where Ron found fulfillment teaching fire safety at Hocking College and later at Lorain County Community College, where he took pride in ensuring his students were prepared for successful careers.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in South Amherst, Ohio. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 118 and served as a Commander for the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 30. Ron enjoyed fishing for perch on his boat on Lake Erie and was an avid swimmer.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Melissa R. (Mike) Williams of Elyria; sons, Ronald M. (Aggie) Limpach, Jr. of Copley and R. Matthew (Julie) Limpach of Elyria; seven grandchildren, Dresden Limpach (Megan), Nigel Limpach, Nick Williams (Amanda), Luke Williams (Shaelyn Schleis), Amelia Williams, Leah Limpach, Matthew J. Limpach and his beloved dog Kuma-san along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife Joanne, he was preceded in death by his sibling, Ralph L. Limpach and Kathryn G. Dudash.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30th, 2026 from 11:30 AM until the time of service at 1:30 PM at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
