Ronald Trifiletti's Obituary
Ronald W. Trifiletti, age 70, of Lorain passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
He was born on August 24, 1947 in Amherst, Ohio to Charles and Frances (nee Preston) Trifiletti and was a 1965 graduate of Lorain High School.
Ronald enlisted with the United Army on July 15, 1966. While enlisted overseas he received the Expert (Rifle) National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1969 at the rank of SSG (T).
He began his career in law enforcement in 1970 at the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department. He then went on to work at the Lorain US Steel Mill, Toledo Edison Davis-Besse, Sheffield Lake Police Department and the Sheffield Village Police Department from which he retired from at the rank of Lieutenant. Upon his retirement he went on to work for Lorain Metropolitan Housing. Ronald was a Master Handler and Trainer with Police Canine Service Dogs. He was involved with the writing of the Ohio Canine Certification curriculum. He was also involved with the DARE program and the Just Say No Program. He officially retired from Law Enforcement in 2013. Ron lived and breathed law enforcement to serve and protect.
Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jolynne (nee Pavlich); son, Adam (Jennel) Trifiletti; daughter, Wendy (Robert) Szabados; grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Szabados, Taya Szabados, and Siena Trifiletti; mother, Frances Trifiletti; brothers, Paul (Charlene) Trifiletti, and Sam (Shelia) Trifiletti; and his sister, Linda (Chuck) Yerico.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Trifiletti, in 2010.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral &Cremation Center. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, April 25th. from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center.
