Rosario Pagan's Obituary
Rosario Pagan, age 76, of Lorain, passed away at his home while under the care of New Life Hospice on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
He was born on March 13, 1946 in Santurce, Puerto Rico and moved to Lorain in 1951. He is a 1965 graduate of Admiral King High School and then attended Murray State University. During his student career at Admiral King High School, he was their Varsity Basketball starting guard in 1963, 1964, and 1965, reaching the regional finals in 1965 and was an All Buckeye Conference leading scorer. Rosario served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1969. After serving his country, he went to work for Ford Motor Company, in Lorain, retiring from there after 30 years. While working there, he held the positions of Committee Man, Vice President, and President of the Local 425 UAW Ford Lorain Assembly Plant.
Rosario was a member of the American Legion Post 30, Amvets Post 47 and Post 58, VFW Post 451, Moose Lodge 3000, Elk Lodge 1301, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises, and trips to casinos. He also enjoyed woodworking, sports, and refreshing himself with his favorite beer, “Bud Light.”
He is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Pagan; children, Rae Marie (Andy) Bastock, of Oberlin and Roe (Beth) Rosario Pagan, of Avon; step children, Michelle (Frank) Griffith, of Rochester, OH and Brian (Hope) Dorsey, of Amherst; grandchildren, Raeven Bastock, Andrew Pagan, Evan Pagan, and Alaina Pagan; step grandchildren, Desaray Vilagi, Mariah Griffith, Jordan Burt, and Dalton Dorsey; and siblings, Ray “Munchie” (Dianna) Pagan, of Lorain, Jose “Cheo” (Patti) Pagan, of Dublin, OH, Carlos “Collie” (Patti) Pagan, of Lorain, Manuel “Tonio” (Barb) Pagan, of Amherst, Socorro “Coki” (Carmelo) Gomez, of Lorain, Robert “Papo” (Marian) Pagan, of Palm Desert, CA, Maria “Mary” (Edward) Majoras, of Lorain, and Rafael “Baby” (Beth) Pagan, of Newark, DE. He will also be dearly missed by his dog, “Bella” and his bird, “Trixie.”
Rosario was preceded in death by his parents, Rosario A. and Bienvenida (nee Perez) Pagan and a brother, Carlos Pagan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 28th, from 2 -4 and 6-8 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. The family will be sharing their thoughts and memories on Wednesday, beginning at 7:30 pm until the end of his visitation at 8:00 pm. Rosario’s funeral service will be on Thursday, the 29th, at 11:00 am, also in the funeral center. His burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
